BRONX, NY – Raymond L. New transitioned into the presence of God on September 14, 2009 after a
long illness at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, NY.
Born to Lila Jane and Leroy in Rocky Point, NC on December 16, 1940, Raymond learned about the
value of family, the honor of integrity and the blessing of being industrious at an early age.
Instilled with a deep sense of responsibility, Raymond relocated to New York to find employed. His
venture met with great success and he retired after 40 years as a Foreman with the Hunts Point
Market.
Raymond is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Cathey; his mother, Lila Jane; 8
siblings, Charles (Grace) Malloy, William (Sandra) Malloy, Leon Malloy, Marsha (James) Sharpless,
Lila Malloy, Cynthia (Ernest) Fullwood, Etta Boone and Barbara Lee Williams; 5 children, Eric
(Robin) New, Raymond New, Kim New, Ramona New, Angela New, and their mother Bernice Williams; 2
stepchildren Edward Ladson and Montres Ladson and their mother Cornie Ladson; twelve grandchildren,
four step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.
